A new sales training class is available at Pacific Language Institute for their students and the public.  The course teaches people who are not full time sales people how to be more persuasive.

You can take the all-day seminar on a Saturday to get the whole course at one time.  This method is also the lowest cost, only $199. Students can qualify for a 25% discount.

Another way to learn the same material is by attending week night classes.  Learn these sales techniques at a more relaxed pace.  Take more time to understand the concepts in small working groups.  Practice giving presentations with you new found knowledge.

Helping individuals and business owners with their 2009 Income Tax returns is the specialty of Liberty Tax.  I will be helping the Liberty Tax franchise owners in Burnaby and East Vancouver during the Feburary to April tax season.

Everyone can benefit from learning persuasion techniques.

The staff at Pacific Language Institute (PLI) are sharpening their persuasion skills next week. They are taking a customized workshop on "Selling Skills for non-sales People".

Every one of the staff at this downtown Vancouver private college must deal with situations where persuasion is important. PLI intends to offer this persuasion workshop to their students. But first, the staff will be trained in persuasion skills.

The Trouble with Drug Testing
Drug testing is supposed to protect us from hazards caused by impaired workers.  But they do not. Impairment evaluation is a viable alternative to drug testing.

What is wrong with drug testing?

During the sales seminar, people liked to hear stories about my sales experiences. Therefore, I will place more emphasis on stories to illustrate the main point. Like the story about buying a convertible to show how the buyer feels when making an emotional purchase.

The next story I'm working on is called 'Board Room Table.' This story will illustrate how body language can be used in a sales situation. It comes right after viewing an educational video on how to use mirroring (another body language technique) to build rapport with the other person.

This story was only a minute or two at the last seminar. But with a larger meaning, it will become a larger part of the seminar. I will actually combine several other points into this one story.

vetc is moving to Pacific Language Institute. The Vancouver Entrepreneurs Toastmasters Club is moving to a new home at the corner of Burrard and Alberni in downtown Vancouver. Here we have room to expand and grow.  We can freely move the tables and chairs around to suit our needs.  And the technology at PLI is great.  We have a large sceeen tv / monitor at the front of the room, where we display the electronic agenda.  How ;green' is that !

An excerpt from the sales seminar "Sales Techniques for non-sales People" was the basis for a speech at my weekly toastmasters meeting.  Last week, I presented this same topic and got feedback from my firends and fellow members.

The first time was limited by a failure of technology.  I came to the meeting, prepared to show power point slides during the delivery.  We were in a new venue, which has a large screen tv at the front of the room.  But the connection did not work.  So I made my speech the old fashioned way; stand up and speak.

This week they fixed the computer link, and I gave the same talk again.  To be sure, I brought my own laptop as well as the power point on a memory stick.  Walter had his computer already hooked up and working when I arrived.  During my speech, he clicked the mouse to advance the slides.

Following the trial run of the feature / benefit workshop last Friday, I found that adding videos to the seminar will be a welcome addition.  There are plenty of great educational videos and I will include some of them next Saturday.

When we talk about body language, it will be especially useful to see a demonstration.
